New Year’s photos and a music rec

Having finally found an easy solution to post several photos with thumbnails at once (PhotoFrame), you can now check out the few pictures I took on New Year’s Eve with my friends, here.

Also, Chris Price, an artist from the Washington, DC area, got in touch with me. I checked him out and must say I really enjoyed his music – it’s melodic electronic pop, mindful of the 80s (a great decade for pop music, I think) that has you swaying along in no time, with a beautiful soft voice (one of my weaknesses). He’s got some info and his soon-to-be-released single ‘Charge Me Up’ available for download on the Washington Post mp3 site, so have a listen!

A couple of Christmas photos

Sadly, all the snow melted in time for the holiday, and it’s been raining quite steadily all day today. But that did give me the chance to take a photo of this pretty rainbow outside the kitchen balcony yesterday afternoon:

I also took a photo of our beautifully lit tree last night – we had a wonderful family Christmas celebration (lots to eat, many cool presents), before heading out to a night service.

Winter wonderland

I couldn’t resist taking my camera along on the walk – and much to my joy, the world is starting to look more like a real winter wonderland by the minute…

As usual, you can click the pic for the full-size version.

Winter’s day

Today started quite bad, with a phone call from work because someone got their knickers in a twist, but home again after uni I’ve decided to leave the bad mood behind me. Of course I’m still disappointed that for some reason De-Lovely (which I’d been dying to see with Sandra tonight) was cancelled from theatres here after only three weeks, but I won’t mope. I just have to wait till it’s out on DVD…

Oh, and have I mentioned that my Big Fish DVD arrived? 🙂

Outside the sun is shining – but it’s freezing cold, a real winter day. Might go for a walk in a bit. Everything but finish my paper… *g* I have the nagging feeling in the back of my mind that there’s something else I’m supposed to be doing as well, but I can’t for the life of me remember what. Well, it’ll come to me eventually, I guess.

Also, Cindy just posted some photos from her visit last week – Basel Herbstmesse.

RingCon photos

It’s impossible to share all the awesome memories I have from RingCon last weekend. Maybe some of the pictures I took will do the job as well…

I didn’t get a lot of photos from the actors, mainly because my zoom is really really crap, so even sitting first row (well, actually right beneath the stage, craning my neck to look upwards) didn’t really help. Click the thumbs to get to the bigger pictures (which are also resized and cropped – let me know if you need the original for some reason).

I took some at Billy Boyd’s first panel on Friday evening, where he’d come rushing in straight from the airport. To top things off they’d lost his luggage – but luckily he got it back. He was very charming and almost knocked me off my feet (luckily I was already sitting *g*), although he seemed a bit tense at times. Not surprising, he must have been terribly stressed! But it just showed the strange dynamics of con life – often it’s the ‘small names’ that become instant favorites, because of their enthusiasm. They feel closer for some reason… But still, it was simply amazing to experience Billy from up close – I never thought I’d get the chance!

RingCon happiness

I’d almost forgotten about the photos Märrie and I had had taken at RingCon last year – until I had them in my inbox just now…

Not the best picture in the world, but definitely the most flattering of the three they took. Why is it so hard to keep your eyes open in photos? *g*

Hard to believe that I’ll leave for RingCon 2004 on Thursday – I’ll be a helper this year. Therefore I guess I’ll won’t be costumed, which is kinda sad. I’d have loved to dress up as a hobbit lass again, the way I did for the premiere of RotK last December…

. .

But – I’ll meet Billy Boyd (Pippin), my favorite hobbit actor! That’s so very exciting!

Post-hairdresser photo

Got my bangs shortened again and two stylishly messy braids. Although, after being rained on, riding my bike, snuggling with my comfy blanket etc., they’re more messy than stylish. Also, no bigger version of this pic, because it’s kind of blurry, despite me taking Photoshop to it. *g*

Summer fondue

As every year my aunt Leona, my father’s youngest sister, is here for a week. My mom thought that this was a good opportunity to use the last box of cheese fondue from last winter. This was the first time I ever had this on the balcony – but really, summer is slowly disappearing, so it didn’t feel too out of place… 🙂

This is also testing out the upload and thumbnail feature of WP. Crossing fingers that it works…

Spring is here…

On my way home from uni (where the Online Journalism teacher turned out to be Cyberwriter from my blogroll – global village, anyone? *g*) it just hit me what a beautiful, beautiful evening it was.

Although already 8pm, the air was still warm and the setting sun was tinting everything in warm gold tones. People were sitting on the grass in the park, their bikes lying next to them, just enjoying what almost felt like a summer evening. But the best part was the air, heavy with fragrance, so sweet it was almost cloying. Simply breathtaking, in the best sense of the word, it more than made up for what had been quite a bad day, both because of my shoulder and my mental state.
