Daytrip with parents

Uploaded the photos from last week, when I drove to the Papiliorama. It was a lovely day, and I drove through some very pretty countryside and villages, reminding me again how beautiful Switzerland is… Should have taken more pictures, but I was totally focused on driving and my mom is almost afraid of my digital camera. 🙂

Book challenge

This sounds like a good project for 2006…

Read 26 books in 12 months by authors you haven’t read before. One for each letter of the alphabet (going by the first letter of the last name of the author).

I’ll add to the list in my reading log as I get recommendations for writers I don’t know already!

In life update news: Yesterday I finally showed my family (and my brother’s girlfriend) the photos from my Japan trip. Afterwards we went to dinner at the only ‘real’ Japanese restaurant in Basel, where the manager was a bit too much of a snob but the food was excellent (and prepared right at the table):

Tomorrow I’ll get some driving practice in: Our neighbours are on vacation, so we have the use of their car, and my parents suggested that we do a daytrip, to the Papilliorama. Looking forward to it, although I’m a bit nervous, as always when I get a chance to drive.

Streetparade

After not going for the last two years because of my travels, this year marked the 7th time I went to the Streetparade in Zurich, where almost a million people danced on the streets to techno beats. It’s not really my scene anymore, but Sibylle and I dressed up (although not with as much effort as we used to) and had a lot of fun. Let me tell you – two girls on their own attract a lot of attention… Not always wanted, but still, a nice ego boost. 🙂

You can look at the photos I took (as well as some taken by our friend Beat, who was there ‘on the job’ for Partysearch.ch) on my Flickr account:

FedCon photos

So I uploaded the photos I took at FedCon to my Flickr account – feel free to check them out! 🙂

Feeling somewhat better today, although still a bit off. Had a hairdresser’s appointment this morning. As usual she made my hair all pretty, but sadly it got rained on on the way back home and suffered. 🙁 But my dad took pictures of it anyway:

More photos

Thought I might as well start really using my Flickr account and uploaded some photos I’ve been promising people forever…

First, all photos from my Scotland trip with Märrie. Took me only over half a year to finally share them – hope you enjoy! 🙂

And then, the photos me and Amy (aka ‘Doodle’ *g*) took during her week can be found here, which includes pictures from this year’s Fasnacht in Basel (especially Morgestraich) and Liestal (Chienbäse – the fire parade thingie).

Scotland photos

Decided I’d had enough of trying to find the perfect way to share my photos with the world – and splurged on a Pro account for Flickr, which has a plugin that goes with my iPhoto.

Therefore you can find 71 photos here – and a short run-down of my week in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inellan in the travel log.

Catching up

For the last week I’ve had a visitor from England, which explains my quietness, since Amy and I had quite a full program. I got to play tourguide through Basel, we did a day trip to Zurich – and then there was the Fasnacht. The ‘three most beautiful days’ were of course the high point of Amy’s visit, especially the Chienbäse in Liestal on Sunday evening and the Morgestraich at 4am on Monday. A cousin of my father’s and my brother came with us, and we had a great time.

I’ll probably post some of the photos taken in the last week once my life has calmed down again (tomorrow’s another full day, after that I only have to write on my paper in the week before going to Glasgow with Regina) – but for now, here are some fantastic photos my friend Jill took. Much better than anything I’ve got! 🙂

And last but not least – Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. Judge:: Judy
  2. Detroit:: industry
  3. Hyphen:: –
  4. Get it right:: or get nothing
  5. Pulsating:: heart
  6. Yoga:: meditation
  7. Memorable:: event
  8. Financial advisor:: accountant
  9. Ten million:: dollars
  10. I:: dream

You will not believe this!

I went into the living room to take down the Christmas lights on the balcony – and there was a bird sitting in the tree! I almost got a heart attack and Michi and I spent about 20 minutes trying to get it to fly out of the open door instead of into the closed windows… And if you know my phobia of dead animals, especially dead birds, you can imagine the nausea and panic that gripped me whenever it started flying around.

But all’s well that ends well, and the little bird hopped out through the door after I had the brilliant idea of carefully (as not to scare it) closing the curtains until the door was the only opening. And here are some photos to prove this (as usual, click for full-size image):
