A good cause

I’m feeling somewhat better today, after having quite a bad day yesterday. I guess my brother’s birthday was a bit too much for me – we spent the day as a family and went to beautiful Lausanne, to the Olympic Museum, and then had dinner in Berne. After that I was just wiped.

This is the last week of uni, so I’ll have to pull myself together and attend classes, despite still feeling a bit under the weather. I just wish I could work on my paper – I’m so behind schedule it isn’t funny…

Anyway, on a more cheerful note: This year there won’t be a Blogathon raising money for charities, but the people from Project Blog are filling in. I’d have loved to take part, but I’ve got to work on the 24th. Instead I’ll probably sponsor – not huge amounts of money, but just something. Check out the website and consider signing up if you’d like to support charities from all over the world!

Sunday again

I’m feeling strangely lazy, a bit like moving underwater. Sadly, I can’t enjoy the beautiful weather, because I’ve got to go to work this afternoon. Have had a pretty good week, overall – Riverdance on Thursday was awesome, and Sibylle’s birthday party last night a lot of fun, as usual.

Maybe Regina and I will go on a spontaneous trip to Rome next Thursday (Ascension), because neither one of us has ever been. Hope this works out, it’d be pretty exciting, even if it’s just for three days or so.

This week’s Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. Playoffs::
  2. Morris:: Mini
  3. Break up:: is hard to do
  4. Eggs:: and bacon

  9. Girl Scout:: brownies?
  10. Salsa:: everyone does it

Also, if you’d like me to remember your birthday, please go here. 🙂

BookCrossing

I released three books into the wilds of Basel tonight. Regina, who I met for hot chocolate and a chat, thought I was pretty weird to deposit books in phone cabins and cafés – but I really hope that not all of them get trashed, and that maybe someone even leaves a note on the site… A pretty cool way of sharing books that you don’t want to keep, in my opinion.

Happy Easter!

To anyone who celebrates the resurrection of Jesus a blessed Easter holiday! I for my part just returned from an Easter service, which was very good and thought-provoking. Balm for my soul, so to speak.

But on to more prosaic things:

Unconscious Mutterings

  1. Boxing:: my brother getting up at 5am to watch it on TV…

Also of interest might be to go and have a look at the entrance page of this domain — I exchanged the picture with a similar one. Only this one is of me, taken by Sibylle on Friday. You like? 🙂

Quick update

First, this week’s Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. Condemn:: prejudiced
  2. Promiscuous:: men
  3. Pro-life:: pro-choice
  4. Mona Lisa:: too many damn people staring at a painting
  5. Crown:: jewels (in the Louvre again)

  7. Hack:: this (username of a friend of mine)

  10. Latin America:: Would love to visit one day!

Paris was lovely. We had the best weather (which unfortunately also meant that I had the hayfever from hell) and walked all over the city, seeing all the sights. Just such a beautiful city – I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of doing the touristy stuff there, because it’s simply so gorgeous… Only the Parisians are sometimes quite rude. And my feet hurt like crazy after the second day already. Poor Sandra was in even worse shape, because she had the flu – worst timing imaginable!

Still, we had the best time! More Paris to follow when I’ve got the time to upload some photos and post them in the travel log…

I’ve been quite busy since returning home – I worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then went to Zurich with Sibylle to see Bryan Adams live in concert again – our third time together, my Christmas present to her. We didn’t see as well as the last two times, but it was still awesome – the man is simply the bomb live! I called about seven people to have them listen in… Not all of them appreciated it, though. Ungrateful rubble! *g*

For now I finally managed to copy all the header.php code into the separate index files, so MT is running smoothly again. A pity that I can’t use header files, though, would have been so very handy for layout changes…

Uni started again yesterday, and I should start to get ready. It’s strange, it doesn’t feel like it’s really started, because the long Easter weekend is coming up and already Friday next week I’ll go on my North Sea island retreat with Märrie

Sunday again

Time again for the Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. Pitbull:: terrier
  2. TD:: really doesn’t ring a bell with me
  3. Carter:: Nick
  4. Japan:: Lost in Translation
  5. 50:: mph
  6. Streak:: of luck
  7. Rifle:: NRA – Bowling for Columbine
  8. Trap:: door
  9. Easter:: weekend
  10. Mitt:: woch (‘Mittwoch’ is ‘Wednesday’ in German)

I still haven’t fixed the layout, so now it’ll have to stay that way just a bit longer, because tomorrow morning I’m going on a short trip to Paris with a friend. Looking very much forward to it – I’ve been twice before (Paris is only five hours by train, after all), but my friend hasn’t and we’ll do some serious sight-seeing… Look for photos and stuff when I get back!

(Well, probably not right away, because I have to work all weekend and uni starts again on Monday, but I will try and post at least some in the travel log.)

  10. Trial:: and error

Also, I’ve been working on my ‘Deep Blue’ inspired layout. Am done, actually, and like it a lot (although I will miss my yummy chocolates – they might return, I think). But because chances are I messed up the MT code in places, I’ll upload it tomorrow, when I’m awake and in the mood for tinkering.

A meme – and a new domain

Unconscious Mutterings, this time a bit early…

  1. Dogma:: Alanis Morisette as God

  10. Film:: Lord of the Rings

I also bought the raspberry domain I was talking about – it’s only my personal site collective at the moment, but feel free to have a look… 🙂

I can now offer free hosting on six domains – wow! But really, that’s enough! Should I start talking about getting another one, someone stop me please! LOL

And now the bath tub is calling me… Have a good weekend, everyone!

Of memes and domains

This week’s Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. Angel:: wings
  2. Birth:: day
  3. Logic:: Mr. Spock
  4. Stars:: in the sky
  5. Nursery:: rhyme
  6. View:: point
  7. Hart:: to Hart
  8. Creation:: of the world

  10. Fortune:: cookie

I was supposed to go to work again today, but for the first time since I started there I found a replacement on short notice because I didn’t feel up to it. But I’m feeling better than yesterday, especially mentally, so that’s good.
It’s all grey and rainy outside, so I guess this’ll be a lazy day spent drinking tea and resting… And maybe I’ll even get some reading done for my fieldwork paper.

I’m also thinking of getting another domain for myself and for hosting. That stuff is addictive! 🙂 It’ll probably be raspberry-kisses.net – what do you think of it? I’ve also been kind of tempted to get fandomish.net, as a purely fannish domain for fanlistings and stuff, but I’ve always dreamed of a raspberry domain. Chocolate only won out the first time, because well… it’s chocolate! *g*

Actually I came up with a whole list of names – I had way too much fun with GoDaddy. My third favorite is probably faerie-wings.net. Tell me what you think of my ideas – maybe I’ll change my mind about the raspberries…

  1. raspberry-kisses.net
  2. raspberrykiss.net
  3. fandomish.net
  4. fan-nish.net
  5. faerie-wings.net
  6. dance-with-me.net
  7. sun-kisses.com
  8. butterfly-kissed.net
  9. empty-pages.net
  10. pen-and-paper.net

I just thought the last two up, as a matter of fact, because besides chocolate, raspberries and fannish things, I’d also kind of like something to do with writing, with books and pages… Sadly enough, bookish.net/.com/.org is already taken, and I don’t want a .us domain. If only Swiss domains (.ch) weren’t so expensive…

But now I’m starving and am off to breakfast. 🙂
