Well, this is what’s on my mind these days… Naturally I also do other things, nice things like going to the spa with my dad or buying myself the King Arthur Director’s Cut, which was released today. But I’ve also donated some money to Glückskette and have been watching news and documentaries, trying to process the tragedy.
Next on my list is donating some more here - because if I can buy myself stuff, I certainly can give something to people who really really need it. Right now.

- Boing Boing has two entries with links to eyewitness blogs: here and here
- This guy was in Phuket and is sharing some of his photos.

Sometimes I’d like to bury my head in the sand these days… I can hardly bear to look at my TV right now.

That I haven’t written about it means mostly that I just can’t wrap my head around the sheer number of people that have been killed or that have lost everything. In comparison to this, 9/11 is dwarfed. I know people that are waiting desperately for news from people down there, and whenever I try to imagine what this catastrophe means - I just can’t…
So here are some links instead of my fumbling words:
- Wikipedia information
- Relief efforts: links and info
- Glückskette/Swiss-Solidarity (where I’ll probably donate at least a bit of money)

Haven’t been feeling too great - headache and a cold. So I’m mainly hanging around at home, not really doing anything (except going to work later today). BUT one good thing has just happened: I booked EasyJet flights to Glasgow! For five days at the end of February, because Regina didn’t want to go by herself and I have no willpower when it comes to Scotland. *g*
And unrelated - this week’s Unconscious Mutterings:
- holiday:: glow
- fault:: line
- beep:: beeeeeeeeeep… (too much ER *g*)
- bubble:: bath
- needle:: thread
- fare:: well
- treat:: trick or
- express:: post
- webcam:: and cheese!
- capital:: of Switzerland

Apparently, some hackers find it fun to celebrate the holidays by spamming my blog with gibberish comments, which are impossible to stop for my spam filter. Therefore I have added the Keith McDuffee’s AuthImage plugin. When posting a comment you are now required to copy a code from an image, to prove that you are a human being and no evil spam bot.
Hopefully this will solve this problem!

Sadly, all the snow melted in time for the holiday, and it’s been raining quite steadily all day today. But that did give me the chance to take a photo of this pretty rainbow outside the kitchen balcony yesterday afternoon:
I also took a photo of our beautifully lit tree last night - we had a wonderful family Christmas celebration (lots to eat, many cool presents), before heading out to a night service.

Michi and I decorated the tree this morning, as is tradition - I just love it, even when we have to fight a stubborn tree that insists on falling over and flooding the living room with water from the tree holder pot thingie…
I’ll probably take a photo when it’s dark outside and we lit the candles - but until then I wish all of you:

Also, a friend sent me this cute Christmas card - enjoy!

I just posted an entry - and now there’s some sort of error and everything has disappeared!
ETA: Luckily my host managed to fix the problem, so everything is working again…

That’s so weird, as I usually wait as long as possible to do anything about my room… But today I already cleaned it for the holidays - and just now I rearranged my main bookshelf. It’s now really ugly, because I had to stack most books (do you have any idea how wrong that looks?) - but at least there’s now a semblance of order, with books sorted more or less by genre. I’d much rather sort them fiction/non-fiction and then by author, actually, but there’s just no way I’d find anything then, the way things are.
Got rid of about 12 or so books, which doesn’t really make any difference. I’m just hopeless when it comes to books - I love them so much, I can hardly bear to part with them, even if I don’t really read them… But at least I could dust the shelves. *g*
Now I’m quite beat and have a backache again. Think I’ll go do the shopping for the next couple of days now, just to get some fresh air into my dusty lungs…

Taken up at the watertower on the Bruderholz, when I visited Pascal on Monday. It was just the perfect winter paradise!
