My mind is consumed

That internship at the STI has taken over my life. I spend my day there and then go home and recuperate until the whole thing starts again…

The good news is that it’s only two weeks, because apparently I only need three weeks, not four, for my major, and both Sandra and I already did one week when helping out at an Epidemiology workshop two years ago. Also, they don’t seem to expect too much of us – I can leave early on the two days that I have to work in the evening, and no one checks how many hours we make.

The not-so-great news is that, although at first it looked as if my job (each one of us does something completely different, all stuff that they don’t normally have time for) would be really easy, it’s turned out quite demanding. They have me translating the website of the German Medical Anthropology work group, from German to English.

At first that was quite good although tiring, because you know me and my love for all things English – but then they liked it so much that they told me to do the whole site. Which includes a great number of scientific abstracts of conference lectures and stuff – the absolute horror! Those things are difficult enough already in German, and translating them really takes a lot out of me. Managed about half of them today, so it’s at least another full day – and I have no idea how happy they’ll be with the results.

Oh well, I’m home now. Need to get off the computer – no energy for nothing and very tired eyes and sore shoulders. I think I hear my TV calling… 🙂
