I haven’t been very happy about the fact that people not used to blogs might be confused by the mass of text and links of my blog when they enter chocolate dream. Therefore I’ve moved it and created a little entrance page, just to make things easier. The new url of this blog is therefore: http://www.chocolatedream.net/blog.html - much nicer than index2.html, anyway!
And now I’ll go grocery shopping — was planning to go to town this afternoon, but this changing over took a bit longer than anticipated. Plus, thanks to the flu shot yesterday I feel a bit feverish. Tomorrow then — I need my energy for tonight’s party… Happy Halloween to all of you who celebrate!

I finally finished copypasting all my old entries, so everything is up and running again. But shit, now by shoulders are all knots - I’m not doing this again in a hurry!
Think I’ll go to bed now. Tata!

MyMediaList (which I use for the “currently” section to the right) seems to be down. What a pity, I hope it’s only a temporary glitch.

Surprisingly enough fall seems to have made a reapperance, so when I found I had my camera in my bag this morning on my way to the doctor’s (for a flu shot) I snapped a pic… It’s the Dorenbach creek at the bottom of the hill, which constitutes the border between Basel and the suburb where I live, and which I cross whenever I have to catch a tram.

My mom loves to take photos there, she’s got them in every season. I just love how close to nature we live while still being close to the city — one end of the path leads straight to the forest, the other end to a square with grocery stores, post office, pharmacy, banks and whatever you need for daily life.

I’ve never been good with pain, haven’t had much experience with it either. I’m sick often, but that’s always been more about feeling weak and feverish than about being in pain. So right now, I’m pretty damn uncomfortable, because there’s something wrong with my back (maybe from my first try at yoga — I might have been a bit too enthusiastic and pulled something).
Sitting in class was awful, and then walking around afterwards was even worse. So I’ve been sitting (more like lying) on the couch all afternoon, because I simply couldn’t face going out there again and being in so much pain again. And I couldn’t even spend the time on my laptop, because sitting straight hurts, too. Took painkillers (called my doctor — his wife/assistant told me to take them three times a day), although I don’t like taking painkillers more than once a day, but it’s not helping a lot.
Am I a wimp? I sure as hell am. I am very aware that there are a lot of people that go through life with chronic pains much worse than this — but this is the first time for me, and it’s making me pretty miserable.
Not the most interesting entry in the world — but I just had to get it out, just so I know how ridiculous I am, moaning and whining like this. My apologies. Time to get off the comp anyway.

Saturday me and Cindy finally saw each other again (first time after months - one could think we lived in different countries instead of just different cantons) when we did a trip to Gruyères (known mainly for its cheese) to see the John Howie exhibtion at the castle there.
It was a beautiful day (if you didn’t mind the fact that it’s winter in October), and we discovered once more what a gorgeous country Switzerland is (although also pretty touristy) as we explored the castle and admired the snow-covered mountains surrounding it. Plus, Howe’s LOTR illustrations were awesome. I am such a Rings fanatic - can’t wait for Return of the King in December, so this was practically heaven for me!
The village and castle of Gruyères:
Some of my favorite pictures:
It was such a pity that they didn’t sell any postcards, or even a calendar, only a book that was too expensive for me - so this had to do…
And now I have to go to work. Have a good Sunday!

I am totally aware that it’s only October and therefore still fall here in Basel (where we get maybe a week of snow a year normally) — but someone should tell the weather that!

And because I had my camera out, here’s a pic of my room, which could be summarized with three Cs: Cozy, Cluttered, and Computer (well, and books, but that wouldn’t fit with the theme… *g*).

I’ve never actually taken part in an ebay auction (I paid the asked-for price for my camera), so this is a first… So far it’s looking good for my Elf dress — but still five minutes to go, so everything could change!
Oi, this is pretty nervous business — don’t think I’m cut out for it.
ETA: Yay, I got it! 50 cents more than I had planned, so that’s okay. Pretty, huh?

It will be a bit too long, but that’s better than too short, in my book.

That means “difficult” or “hard work” (more or less) in Swiss German.
I’ve been copypasting the lost blog entries by hand. Finished the study journal, but am nowhere near done here. But I’ll get there eventually, working my way back to my first post.
Been enjoying to surf some blogs from my “interesting people” blogroll - it’s not as easy as my friendslist on LiveJournal, but it’s more individual and diverse. Now, if only my own blog was as interesting…
Will go downtown this afternoon, to buy train tickets to visit Märrie, get some new books (and the latest Ben Harper CD!) from the library, and find out about restoring my Australia photos to my camera. Once I’ve made a decision about the photos (is it really an option or should I just forget about it?), I can start taking pictures again - Saturday the big fall fair starts again, which is always fun and should give some photo opportunities.
